Understanding who can access your C Spire account

There are three levels of access for a consumer account: Account Holder, Authorized User, and Subscriber.
Each level has different abilities, as explained below: 1) Account Holder The person responsible for paying the bill and can perform all transactions on an account after verification of identity. The Account holder can also:
  • Set up an account or transfer service
  • Pick up a carryout order establishing a new account
  • Add or delete Detailed Billing
  • Request Call Detail Records or bill reprints
  • Discuss Call Detail Records
  • Reinstate voluntarily suspended service
  • Set up AutoPay
  • Change an incorrect SSN or account name
  • Add, update or remove an account password
  • Request the My Account username or password
  • Request the CPNI PIN
  • Change the account's billing or email address
  • Set up a Device Payment Plan account
  • Request an insurance loaner device
  • Change the voice mail password
  • Disconnect service, if under a promotional offer contract
  • Request an account number or mobile number
  • Designate an Authorized User
2) Authorized User The user on the account who has been previously designated by the Account Holder as being able to perform certain transactions. Verification of identity is required along with knowledge of the last four digits of the Account Holder's Social Security Number. With prior approval from the Account Holder, the Authorized User can also:
  • Request a new number for an existing line
  • Upgrade equipment
  • Add a line to an existing account
  • Pick up a carryout order adding on to an existing account
  • Pick up a recovered phone previously reported as stolen
  • Bill item purchases to the account
  • Request a plan change
  • Add or delete all features except Detailed Billing
  • Disconnect service, if not under a promotional offer contract
  • Reconnect service
  • Make payment arrangements
  • Delete a My Account profile
  • Process a warranty claim
An Authorized User can only perform these trasanctions via phone or in a store. 3) Subscriber The user of an individual line on the account. After verification of identity, the subscriber can perform certain transactions affecting his line only. The Subscriber can also:
  • Suspend service
  • Discuss the bill amount
  • Swap out one phone for another (referred to as an ESN change)
  • Purchase a used or non-contract device
