Students will get real professional exposure and career insights through the exclusive student program.
RIDGELAND, Miss. (April 2, 2025) – C Spire, a diversified telecommunications and technology services company, announced the launch of C Spire Liftoff, its first-ever externship program. C Spire Liftoff is designed to provide high school juniors and seniors with opportunities for professional experience and tech career insights at an award-winning tech company.
Applications for the C Spire Liftoff program will be accepted from April 2 – August 31, 2025. To qualify for the program, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, attend a public or private high school in the Jackson metro area, and submit a letter of recommendation and a 500–750-word essay on career goals. The C Spire Recruiting team will complete the application review process by September 15. A maximum of 10 students will be hosted at C Spire headquarters in Ridgeland during the fall for the program.
"With our first-ever externship, we're excited to inspire and encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math-related fields," said Lauren Lawhorn, chief human resources officer at C Spire. “Talented students will have an immersive experience at our company that will provide real-world opportunities and career connections to help them learn, grow, and explore the tech field."
Students will be exposed to essential skills for college and career paths while networking with industry professionals who can offer useful insight and guidance. Three tracks focused on math, science, and arts are available to students as they consider career paths. Tracks for the C Spire Liftoff program include:
Technical – Cybersecurity, Networking, Information Technology, and Software Development
Business – Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain
Creative – Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Social Media Marketing, and Sports Marketing
At the end of the C Spire Liftoff program, a select number of students will be awarded one-time scholarship payments from the C Spire Foundation in recognition of their outstanding performance and potential. The scholarships will be accepted at in-state colleges and universities.
