How to make extra payments on your device

Even if you’re paying for your device monthly, you can still make extra payments through your online account whenever you want. Remember, when you’ve paid the equivalent of 18 monthly payments on your current device, you don’t have to make any more payments on it if you want to upgrade to a new one.*

Making extra payments on your device won't change how much you're billed monthly, but extra payments will reduce the balance owed on your device and could reduce the number of installment payments.

Choose Devices from the side navigation.

Scroll down until you find your device. You'll see the remaining balance, if any, along with the number of monthly payments required to collect this amount. If you want to make an additional payment on this device, select Make Payment on this Device.

Making an additional payment will go toward your device balance, not your monthly bill.

At this point, you can pay off the device or enter another amount. If you aren't paying off the device today, choose the second option and enter how much you'd like to pay. Then, click Continue.

Choose your payment option and continue.

Continue through the checkout process. The line-item charge will be listed as Device Payment Plan Additional Payment. You'll receive a confirmation email when the checkout process is complete

Continue through checkout to complete your additional payment

*If you want to upgrade your current device after paying the equivalent of 18 monthly payments, you will need to trade it in at the time you upgrade.

The payoff amount does not include your final device installment payment, which will be applied to your next bill.
