Company investment in Desoto County since 2014 totals more than $55M
RIDGELAND, Miss. (June 24, 2024) – C Spire, a diversified telecommunications and technology services company, continues to invest in DeSoto County and expand ultra-fast fiber connectivity for more than a thousand residents thanks to the collaboration of public/private partnerships.
C Spire was awarded grants for this project through the DeSoto County Broadband Connectivity Program and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Construction is well underway in Lewisburg and Bankston and running ahead of schedule. C Spire lit the first neighborhood in May, and the company should have the project completed by October.
“DeSoto County has always been essential to C Spire and was one of the first areas in Mississippi to be brought online through our Fiber to the Home Initiative,” said Toby Dubois, general manager of home services for C Spire. “Since 2014, C Spire has invested more than $55 million in DeSoto County to accelerate the deployment of fiber to provide residents with the advantages of ultra-fast and reliable home internet.”
More DeSoto County residents can now experience C Spire’s fiber home internet, which is faster than the national average, boasts higher bandwidths, and is over 99.99 percent reliable www.cspire.com/fiber. The community’s support for the C Spire fiber expansion in DeSoto County reflects the shared vision for increased connectivity.
“Thanks to the Board’s use of federal grants, the newly awarded state grant money, and our partnership with C Spire, we are bridging the digital divide to ensure that residents, no matter how remote, will soon be able to access the opportunities that come with reliable internet,” said President Lee Caldwell, DeSoto County Board of Supervisors. “This is more than just a technological achievement; it's a testament to our shared vision of a connected and thriving county."
“We are grateful for C Spire’s continued confidence in making such a substantial and much needed investment in our county and look forward to enjoying the exceptional services the fiber to the home initiatives will provide to our residents,” said Jim Flanagan, president and chief executive officer for the DeSoto County Economic Development Council.
C Spire first launched fiber service to cities across Mississippi in 2014 and has built a thriving network spanning more than 150 communities in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee. C Spire is committed to expanding its fiber service to bring more Mississippi communities online and technology improvements to our home state.
C Spire began offering wireless service in the DeSoto County area in 2002 and now provides fiber internet services to businesses and residents and a full suite of products to businesses and government entities.
