What is fiber optic internet, and how is it different?

A fiber optic cable has one or more strands of glass inside. Digital pulses of light carry signals along the line incredibly fast – literally at the speed of light. This is the preeminent technology for Internet speed and reliability, offering the highest speeds, best signal transmission and greatest reliability during bad weather conditions.

Does Smart WiFi replace my current WiFi router?

Yes. Smart WiFi is a mesh WiFi system that replaces any current WiFi access points. Current customers can upgrade after signing into the My C Spire section of the website.

What's included in my Smart WiFi subscription?

Your subscription includes two (2) Pods and access to parental controls, online protection, advanced smart home protection, adblocking, and advanced WiFi management tools via the highly rated Plume app.

How much does a Smart WiFi subscription cost?

C Spire Smart WiFi costs $14/mo and is perfect for most homes. Additional Smart WiFi Pods can be added to cover large homes for $7/mo.

Who is Plume?

Plume is our technology partner in bringing Smart WiFi to our customers. We chose them because their cutting-edge software and hardware provides a home WiFi experience that is miles ahead of anything else available today.

How many Pods do I need for my home?

The two (2) Pods that come with your subscription are perfect for most single story, 2-3-bedroom homes up to about 2000 SqFt. Larger homes will need additional Pods to cover additional bedrooms and stories. Learn more.

How does Smart WiFi protect against cyber threats?

Smart WiFi utilizes AI security to provide real-time threat protection against crypto-mining, ransomware, malware and more to the devices connected to your home network.

How does Smart WiFi protect my Smart Home devices?

As a C Spire Fiber customer, do I have to subscribe to Smart WiFi?

No. Customers that wish to purchase and manage their own WiFi system can do so. Please have your WiFi system on hand at the time of installation if you'd like for us to help get you set up.


How Does C Spire TV work?

C Spire TV is a state-of-the-art streaming TV app that lets you watch live and on demand from your phone, laptop, tablet and many of today’s most popular streaming media devices like Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV or Nvidia Shield TV. Instead of having to rent a cable box, you can just download the C Spire TV app and enjoy your subscription on your own equipment.

How many streams and hours of Cloud DVR do I get?

C Spire TV comes with one (1) free stream and 50 hours of Cloud DVR storage. This lets you watch TV on one device at a time. Additional streams and increments of 50 Cloud DVR hours are available together for only $5/mo more. We recommend getting one stream for each person in your home so everyone can watch what they want, when they want.

What is Replay TV?

This is one of the most popular features of C Spire TV. Most networks have given us the greenlight to offer from 24 to 72 hours (3 days) of previously aired programming. That means even if you forgot to record a show on your Cloud DVR, you can likely still catch it on demand with Replay TV.

Can I watch TV outside of my house?

Absolutely. If you subscribe to C Spire Home Phone, we’re glad to port in your current landline number.

Is there an additional charge for domestic long-distance calls?

No, C Spire Home Phone customers can enjoy unlimited home phone service, including free nationwide long-distance calling.

What features are included with home phone service?

Voice mail, call blocking, call return, call waiting, caller ID and more are included with C Spire Home Phone.

Will I need a different home phone?

Is this Voice over IP service?

While C Spire Home Phone does utilize IP connectivity, this service isn’t traditional Voice over IP service.

Yes, there is an 8-hour standby battery backup included with your phone service, and you have the option to purchase a 24-hour battery backup.

Why is service not available in my area?

Service availability is based on a few different factors, including distance from existing fiber lines, city/municipality approval, density, and/or signal strength from a nearby antenna. For specific information, email us at

construction & installation

How does C Spire Fiber get to my home?

In most cases, construction crews will lay fiber optic cable around your neighborhood, and then, we’ll dig a shallow, thin trench from the street to the side of your home to bring the cable close enough for installation. While it creates some temporary dirt and dust, laying fiber optic lines in the ground provides the most reliable connection possible.

What should we expect in our neighborhood during the construction process?

Here’s what happens next.

1. Utilities will mark their underground electric, gas and water 1 lines with paint.
2. Small holes will be dug to allow structure placement.
3. Horizontal lines will be drilled to connect the holes together.
4. The main fiber lines will be installed.
5. We will schedule home installations for customers who have completed their orders.

Why is construction necessary in my yard?

In order to bring service to a neighborhood, much like local gas, electric, water, and other cable or internet service providers, we’re laying our infrastructure throughout your municipalities’ right-of-way. This is an area out near the street that is designated for such services by law.

Some residences will have a handhole placed near the edge of the yard. This handhole provides our engineers with access to the main fiber optic line that runs through your neighborhood.

We’ll be sure to restore all grass, flower beds, etc. in your yard to the way it was before once the entire construction process is complete.

Who should I contact if I have questions about construction near my home?

The crew working directly in your neighborhood is the best point of contact regarding construction. We’ll provide their direct contact information before construction begins via email and direct mail.

When will C Spire Fiber Internet be connected to my home?

Once construction is complete on your street, and you’ve placed your order, a C Spire crew will bring the fiber optic cable up to the side of your residence. If you haven’t already scheduled an installation appointment, we’ll contact you to schedule your interior installation.

Can you utilize existing wiring in my residence?

In many cases, yes. We’ll test any existing wiring to make sure it can deliver the full potential of your new gigabit internet connection. If your residence’s existing wiring isn’t usable, our professional installation technician will discuss wiring options with you at the time of installation.

If I need new wiring, what type of cable will you use?

To bring you the full speed and bandwidth potential of gigabit C Spire Fiber Internet, we use Cat6 Ethernet cabling. We’ll provide and install this cable for you during your installation appointment. Alternatively, you can have an electrician or other licensed professional install this for you at your convenience and expense.

What equipment is placed on the exterior of my residence?

A utility box about two times the size of a shoebox will be placed on the side of your home, typically adjacent to your home’s main power supply. This utility box houses a piece of equipment called an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) that turns the fiber optic light impulses into a format that can be transmitted across more traditional Ethernet (network) cable.

When will my services be installed?

If we already have fiber in your neighborhood, you’ll be able to schedule your installation appointment when you place your order online. If we’re currently adding fiber to your neighborhood, we recommend ordering now so you can schedule your installation as soon as construction is completed.

How long will my installation take?

Most customers are installed within two hours although the actual length of the installation can be impacted by several factors, including the size of your home, number of services ordered, condition of existing wiring, location of outlet(s) and more. Our professional installation technician will be more than happy to give you an estimate to make sure your installation doesn’t interfere with the rest of your day.

Is my bill going to change after a promotional period?

No, unlike many of our competitors, we aren’t luring you in with a cheap price that jumps up after 12 months. The price you see when you sign up is the price you’ll pay for the length of your contract, except for local channel transmission fees or any upgrades you want to add.

When and how will I get my first bill?

We’ll send your first bill within 7-10 business days of your installation to the email address you provide, unless you choose for us to mail you a paper bill.

How do I manage my services online?

Log in to your account to view and pay your bill, update your email address, manage services and more. We also suggest downloading the My C Spire app so you can manage your account on the go.

How can I pay my bill?

Log in to your account or the My C Spire app to pay your bill. From there, you can also set up AutoPay to make paying your monthly bill even easier.

What happens if I subscribe to C Spire Fiber and then move to an area without fiber?

We’re constantly expanding our C Spire Fiber service area(s), but if you move to an area that we don’t serve, there’s no penalty for canceling your service. Learn more about the process for moving services.
