C Spire Wireless Academic All-Star Presented To Bartlett Student
Bartlett, Tenn. (October 9, 2012) - Katelyn Frierott, a senior at St. Benedict High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
She was one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for General Scholarship. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. She and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Katelyn holds a 4.63 weighted grade point average and scored 33 on the ACT with a perfect 36 in English and a 34 in reading. Currently ranked first in a senior class of 244 students, Katelyn received highest average awards in several Honors classes including Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, English, World History and U.S. History. She is a four-year Principal’s Honor Roll student.
A member of Mu Alpha Theta and the National Honor Society, Katelyn earned excellence awards in AP English Language and Composition, Honors Geometry and Honors Psychology. She is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and earned silver and bronze medals on the National Spanish Exam. Katelyn’s National History Day documentary, “Chinese in the Mississippi Delta,” was selected for state competition where it placed third. Katelyn is captain of the varsity volleyball team.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its seventh year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators. Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, Le-Moyne Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
