RIDGELAND, Miss., (Feb. 4, 2023) - C Spire, a diversified telecommunications and technology services company, celebrates 35 years of customer inspiration this month. Launched on Feb. 4, 1988, as Cellular South with only nine employees on the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a wireless provider, it has grown into the largest privately held wireless carrier in the U.S. It has also evolved into a leading telecom and technology company offering fiber internet, and business IT solutions such as internet, VoIP, cloud and managed services.
C Spire successfully completed its first wireless call in Gulfport on the Mississippi Gulf Coast between former Ole Miss and New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning and then U.S. Representative Trent Lott.
Today, C Spire services business customers in more than 30 states in the U.S. with a focus on the Southeast. C Spire has continued to expand residential fiber in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee, and now owns or manages more than 17,000 miles of fiber with the vast majority being fiber in the ground.
